Monologue Mondays

I am returning to this blog after a 13-month absence from it. Thank you for reading this. I am writing in my newly furnished "Post-Doctoral Studio." It is really my second bedroom, and since I live alone, it is available to me as a creative space. I just spent over six hours in my "teaching office," which is most people's dining room. I left that space because my work was done for the day. There will be more work there for me tomorrow. I am also writing on a new, small laptop that I recently bought specifically for its webcam. My webcam decided to stop working on my main laptop, and I need it for Monologue Mondays. 

Monologue Mondays is a service I offer in which I provide an audience for actors and "non-actors" to present a monologue and receive feedback and live coaching. There are similarities between that and what I am currently paid for, which is facilitating online speech classes. However, one is very institutional driven. I have to provide grades. There are no grades in Monologue Mondays. 

I have enjoyed past sessions and have always preferred working 1:1 or in a small ensemble over teaching a class, especially in person. I actually miss the pandemic-infused Zoom Theater days because I directed some amazing work that was presented online. While in-person acting coaching is ultimately richer and more beneficial, I do not currently have access to the infrastructure to make that happen. I do have a laptop, an internet connection, a dedicated room to work, and years of experience. I promoted Monologue Mondays through a few methods this past weekend especially, but I have not yet found my audience. 

I keep trying, though. Apparently if you build it, they will come.
